“The profile of the Morden Corn & Apple Festival has taken another leap forward provincially and nationally”, announced President Dale Stambuski. The Morden Corn & Apple Festival, celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2016 is very excited to announce that it has received designation as a MANITOBA STAR CELEBRATION, a new program created by the Province to recognize marquee events and community celebrations known for providing immersive and authentic experiences that are reflective of our roots.
“The Morden Corn & Apple Festival by virtue of its international reputation, significantly contributes to the image and appeal of Manitoba as a tourism destination. Our main target market is Winnipeg but our event attracts visitation from all over Manitoba, into Saskatchewan, Ontario, North Dakota, Minnesota and throughout the world, explains Stambuski.
Manitoba Minister of Tourism, Culture, Heritage, Sport and Consumer Protection Minister Ron Lemieux noted that, “The Province wants to recognize long-standing, major attractions and innovative new events that are building the province’s cultural fabric. Manitoba is where Canada’s Heart Beats, and showcasing the festivals and events that Manitoba families enjoy will demonstrate the heart of our communities and the diversity of our culture as well as attract new tourism opportunities. Similar to the Star Attractions program, the Star Celebrations designation is only awarded to festivals and events that meet specific criteria, provide a superior visitor experience, and engage visitors in unique experiences and local culture,” said Minister Lemieux.
“The Festival is proud to partner with the City of Morden, The Pembina Hills Regional Art Gallery, The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre, local businesses, service organizations, churches and schools to produce a well-established annual marquee tourism celebration that meets the generally accepted standards and expectations for tourism market readiness, has a long standing tradition of programming and management excellence, demonstrates clear efforts to generate significant levels of tourism visitation from outside the local area and exceeds the scope and scale of other similar events,” added Stambuski.
