Summer Student – Administrative Assistant
The Morden Corn & Apple Festival Inc. is currently accepting resumes for a Summer Student Administrative Assistant position for the 2026 festival season.
This full-time term position runs mid-May to early September (approximately 16 weeks) at 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday). This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is open to applicants aged 18–30 who meet program eligibility requirements.

Position Overview:
The Summer Student Administrative Assistant works closely with the Executive Director and Festival committees to help plan and execute Morden’s signature annual community event the Morden Corn & Apple Festival.
This position plays a key front-line role in the organization and coordination of Festival logistics, vendor relations, street space planning, parade coordination, office administration, and general event support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors and represent the Festival in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer and return phone calls; monitor and respond to email inquiries
- Process mail and maintain organized digital filing systems (Google Drive)
- Maintain detailed daily timesheets and task logs
- Prepare letters, reports, and official correspondence
- Review and process vendor applications (Street Space, Artist & Artisan Alley & Farmers Market)
- Maintain and update Festival street maps, including hydro and water requirements
- Prepare and distribute vendor acceptance packages
- Prepare and Apply for Festival Health Permit
- Assist with Thursday night street setup during Festival week
- Submit parade applications for regional parades
- Communicate with dignitaries and community partners
- Support sponsorship recognition updates (website and materials)
- Prepare and submit letters to the City of Morden as needed.
- Communications & Digital Support
- Assist with website updates and social media posts
- Maintain sponsor listings on the Festival website
- Compile master event schedules for Festival programming
- Be present and available during Festival weekend to assist committees and troubleshoot issues
- Support post-event wrap-up, documentation, and reporting
- Assist the Executive Director with administrative follow-up
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional and friendly customer service abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in:
- Email communication
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- Google Sheets and Google Drive
- Comfort learning new digital systems and working in a largely paperless environment
- Experience in event planning, administration, or community organizations is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- 35 hours per week
- Primarily office-based with occasional off-site duties as we reach closer to the festival
- Attendance at some evening meetings may be required
- Availability during Festival weekend is mandatory
